Pico488 is a DNA binding benzothiazole dye whose structure is identical to PicoGreen®. This reagent is a 200× solution in DMSO. The dye is a fluorescent sensor that is specific for double stranded DNA (dsDNA). Its absorption and emission in the fluorescein channel can be easily detected using cuvette fluorometers, well plate readers, and by dedicated DNA measurement fluorometers like Qubit®.
The dye exhibits a linear response of fluorescence to dsDNA concentrations in the range of low pg/mL to high ng/mL. The ready kit including quantification dye is also available.
