BDP TR is a bright and photostable red-fluorescent dye. Because of its hydrophobic properties, BDP TR can readily permeate cell membranes and is an excellent fluorophore for staining various lipophilic compounds. This dye is an analog of BODIPY™ TR and similar to ROX by its spectral characteristics.
BDP TR has a long excitation lifetime; besides conventional fluorescence microscopy, it can be used in various fluorescence anisotropy assays.
Being an alternative to alkynes, dibenzocyclooctyne (DBCO) readily reacts with azides in copper-free Click Chemistry reactions, which result in BDP TR-biomolecule conjugates.
